Can You Make Money With Juice Plus+
Juice Plus+ is a line of dietary supplements produced by National Safety Associates (NSA). NSA is based in Collierville Tennessee, and has been producing Juice Plus+ since 1993. The company has also sold fire protection and water filtration systems.
NSA has been using network marketing to sell their products since 1986. Here at The Finance Guy, we think you can’t make money with MLM, but we’re happy to be proven wrong. In our full review of Juice Plus+, we’ll find out if this is a real business opportunity, or just another MLM
What is Juice Plus
The Juice Plus+ Products are a range of dietary supplements designed to give you the goodness of fruit vegetables. There’s even supplements for grains to give you fiber and antioxidants. Their range of capsules claims to be ‘almost as good as the real thing’.
The Juice plus story, is that we our normal diets aren’t healthy enough, so their supplements are here to help. They are offering the benefits of a healthy balanced diet, without the need for eating all that natural healthy food.
What is the Juice Plus+ Opportunity
We had a look at the Juice Plus business model. It claims to be a unique blend of concepts with ‘minimal risk and unlimited potential’. It’s a little early but it seems that Juice Plus+ is too good to be true.
To make money with Juice Plus+ all you need to do is embrace their philosophy of ‘Embrace. Share. Inspire’. If you join, you’ll get your own ‘Juice Plus+ Virtual Franchise’.
Once you’ve joined, they’ll help you followed the Juice Plus+ proven system. Following these simple steps will allegedly help you turn your small investment into financial freedom!
While Juice Plus didn’t share a lot of information, we did learn that a key to success is ‘sharing and growing your business’. This is MLM speak for saying you need to recruit people to make money.
How do You Make Money With Juice Plus+
To find out how you actually earn money we had to find an unofficial copy of the Juice Plus compensation plan. This document explains all the different ways you can make money with Juice Plus. As the version we found was not from the company, we hope it is up to date and accurate.
Retail Profit
If you join any MLM, you are taking on a sales role. The only way to make money, is to make sales. Your retail profit is simply the difference between what you pay for products, and what you charge your customers for the same products.
Commission
Every Juice Plus product you buy will have a points value. These points are important because they influence your rank in Juice Plus+. As you climb the ranks, the amount of commission you can earn will increase. This is shown in the table below:
As we can see, when you first join as a ‘Virtual Franchisee’, you will not be entitled to any commission at all. However if you accumulate 2,000 points per month, then you can get a 6% commission. This commission is paid monthly on the volume generated by your entire business.
If you managed to keep growing your business and can generate 12,000 points worth of points, then you can achieve the rank of ‘Sales Coordinator’. At this rank your commission will be 22%.
To gain promotions and earn commission, you don’t have to do it all alone. The points generated by others you recruit will count toward your business. So if you convince others to become Juice Plus+ franchisees, you can earn commission on any products they buy.
It’s nice to know that you can earn all this money simply by telling your friends to join your MLM downline. However it’s also important to remember that the people who recruited you to Juice Plus+ are making commission on your purchases. Convincing you to join and buy product is in their best interest!
Bonuses and Benefits
If you achieve specific goals such you may earn one off or recurring bonuses. These can be for activities such as:
- achieving a new rank
- recruiting new franchisees and helping them get ‘promoted’
- etc etc
Basically the higher up the Juice Plus+ you go, the more you can make in these payments. Some may be non - cash benefits, such as discounts on Juice Plus seminars. As Juice Plus+ has not provided detailed information, it is difficult for us to be certain.
How Much Are Juice Plus Members Earning
There are many ways to make money with Juice Plus+, but we want to know if the system works. A good way to find out is to look at how much current franchisees are earning. It took some effort, but we managed to find the Australian copy of the 2017 Juice Plus+ income disclosure, shown in the table below:
While these results only represent the Australian Juice Plus+ Franchisees, we are going to assume that things are pretty similar all over the world. The first thing we notice is that it’s good to be a National Marketing Director with Juice Plus+
If you reach the top level in the Juice Plus+ system, you can earn over $100,000 per year! We have no doubt that the NMDs in Juice Plus are doing well. The problem is that they are the only ones earning over full time minimum wage.
The NMDs represent 0.9% of all people who join Juice Plus+. In other words 99.1% earn less than minimum wage with Juice Plus+. If you’re looking for an opportunity to make money, you’d be better off with a regular job!
Let’s not forget that the commissions earned from Juice Plus don’t include expenses! Keep in mind that if you decide to join Juice Plus then you’ll need to put in time and money to grow your downline. If we were to look at the net income, we believe that after expenses, most Juice Plus+ franchisees are losing money
Why is it Difficult to Make Money With Juice Plus
The reason it’s hard to make money with Juice Plus, or any MLM, is because of the business model. We looked at Juice Plus using Dr Jon Tayolors 5 Step MLM evaluation. According to his research, if you join Juice Plus+, you have less than 1% chance of making money. His research is inline with our findings from their own income summary.
The reason it’s difficult to make money with Juice Plus, is because the system is designed for the company to make money. Their goal is to make you a Juice Plus+ customer, not a business partner.
If you join Juice Plus, or any other network marketing deal, it is a sales job. The only way to make money, is to make sales. As any salesperson will tell, you the best way to make sales, is with a good product.
A Review of Juice Plus+ Products
We looked at a review of Juice Plus+ written by Health Plus. They agree that fruit and vegetables are good for you, and that Juice Plus products might be helpful. It’s hardly convincing!
We decided to keep looking, so we read an unbiased review of Juice Plus+ by ancestral nutrition. This review done by a qualified dietitian, found that Juice Plus+ contains ingredients which may cause cancer
Another review of Juice Plus, by First Step Nutrition was also less than positive. The found that:
Juice Plus+ contains too much sugar
Juice Plus+ is not a substitute for health eating
The positive claims about Juice Plus+ could be placebos
Juice Plus+ supplements contain too much sugar
Should You Join Juice Plus+
Our research found that less than 1% of people make money with Juice Plus, and their products aren’t as healthy as real food. Less than 1% earn a full time income with Juice Plus+
If you are looking to sell supplements which ‘aren’t as good as natural food’, then this might be right for you. If you are looking for real business opportunity we suggest doing more research. Our study has found that it’s quite likely that you will lose money with Juice Plus+
If you are considering joining Juice Plus, then we suggest you evaluate all your options. Keep in mind that it is quite likely that you will lose money with Juice Plus+.
If you are already taking Juice Plus supplements, and you feel they are better than natural foods, then maybe you can make money with Juice Plus+. At the end of the day you can’t make money unless you make sales.
Is Juice Plus+ a Pyramid Scam
Even though Juice Plus+ closely resembles a pyramid scam, it isn’t illegal. There are technicalities which date back to a 1979 Amway ruling.
To the best of our understanding, Amway managed to word their documentation in a way that bypassed the pyramid scheme laws. This opened the doors for other MLMs (including Juice Plus), to do the same.
Juice Plus might be legal, but that does not mean it’s ethical. Keep in mind that more than 99 / 100 people will earn less than minimum wage with Juice Plus+. How would you feel if your friend recommended that you join a scheme where less than 1% succeed? How would you feel recommending the same scheme to your other friends?
As always, we’d love to hear what you have to say in the comments section below, especially if you can share your own experiences with Juice Plus.
